David Halls was appointed Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral in September 2005. A frequently published composer at home and abroad, he recently won first prize in a national competition for a composition for York Minster.
Steven Halls studied the cello with Pauline Dunn and Suzanne Ramon and, from 2008 to 2019, was the Chairman of the Elgar Society. He is also the Programme Director of the Three Rivers Music Society and the Managing Trustee of the Arcadia Music Festival Trust.
Daphne Moody has been a member of the Eberle Quartet or 23 years and currently plays with the Edington Ensemble. She is also part of the Superstrings team in Wiltshire which champions the study of string instruments for young people. Daphne also taught at Salisbury Cathedral School for 27 years.
About Pipe Dreams
Salisbury Cathedral School’s Peter Collins Pipe Organ is in desperate need of repair. It is used both as a teaching instrument for pupils and as a rehearsal instrument for Salisbury Cathedral. The Pipe Dreams campaign is looking to raise a total of £43,000 to fund:
- Vital renovation and repair work to the school organ
- Safety works to the school chapel gallery to make the organ accessible for unsupervised pupil practise plus improved lighting
- Two new organ scholarships: for one boy and one girl, during school years 7 and 8, including a school fee remission, weekly organ lessons and performance opportunities at school and in local churches, organ groups and Salisbury Cathedral
