LUNCHTIME CONCERT – The Wessex Folk Orchestra

The Wessex Folk Orchestra, run by William Shering, is a group of musicians who love to play country dance tunes, with life and energy and beauty.

This season we are playing tunes from the regency period, including tunes that Jane Austen would have known and danced to, in fact one tune that she copied herself into the Austen family music book.  There is also a brand new tune composed in response to the recent TV adaption of the story of Jane and her sister Cassandra.

We are 15 in number, and comprise, violins, mandolins, cellos, viol, guitars, ukulele and recorders.

Your toes will be tapping as you hear the tunes that Mr Darcy and Elizabeth fell in love to.
