Farley Music in the Close
The Farley Music Festival is pleased to present three young rising star pianists at the Medieval Hall in Salisbury Cathedral Close on Saturday 27th September 2025 with concerts lasting one hour at 11.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. Come to them all and use the breaks to take advantage of the many places to eat and drink in and near The Close!
Anelise Gamulescu – First concert starting at 11.30am for approx. 60 minutes.
Romanian critics have hailed Anelise as an “exceptional pianist with a refined sound,” quickly establishing her as a standout in the new generation. Studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Florian Mitrea, she has displayed remarkable artistic maturity beyond her years. Starting at age three, she has won numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the “Ina Macarie” Competition at 13. Recently, she secured Second Prize at the Orbetello International Piano Competition in Italy and Third Prize at the Constanta International Competition in Romania.Her programme will include Mozart’s dramatic A minor sonata, Franck’s beautiful Prelude, Fugue and Variation and two magical pieces by Liszt
Sadra Mahshidfar – Second concert starting at 2.30pm for approx. 60 minutes
Sadra is a pianist known for his expressive artistry and versatility, has performed at the Academy’s Summer Piano Festival and the Royal Northern College of Music. He is enthusiastic about contemporary music, having collaborated with composers like Philip Cashian and Brett Dean, and premiered new works with the Manson Ensemble. Recent recitals in London and Oxford featured works by Samuel Barber, Tristan Murail, and Franz Schubert.
Currently at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Joanna MacGregor, Sadra holds the Leverhulme Arts Scholarship and the Jennifer Sharp award. He studied at Tehran University of Art before joining the Academy and has worked with pianists Yevgeny Sudbin and Steven Osborne.His programme will include some majestic Handel, some spiritually rich Messian, four mazurkas by Chopin and Liszt’s sparkling Les Jeaux d’eaux à la Ville d’Este.
Andra Bacila- Third concert starting at 6.00pm for 60 approx minutes
Andra is a Romanian classical pianist, is an outstanding performer described by critics in Silent London. She studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Joanna MacGregor CBE, having received a full scholarship and the Hargreaves and Ball Award. Her performances include venues like St James’s Church Piccadilly, the University Church of St Mary in Oxford, and the Romanian Athenaeum, where she played the Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor.
She performed at the Czech Embassy in 2023 for the new Rusalka production with the Czech Philharmonic, andparticipated in a fund-raiser at Central Saint Martins’ LVMH Theatre. She also won concert opportunities through the Odyssey Masterclass, Stonevale Concert Series, and Talent Unlimited, joining the foundation in 2024. At the Royal Academy, Bacila has performed in Summer and Autumn Piano Festivals, participated in projects like Liszt: The Complete Années de Pèlerinage and Kurtág: The Complete Játékok, and contributed to the Improvisation to Film project with Neil Brand.
Her programme will include some witty Rameau, a charming sonata by Clementi, and Liszt’s magical St. François d’Assise: La Prédication aux Oiseaux.
