Farley Music in the Close

The Farley Music Festival is pleased to present three young rising star pianists at the Medieval Hall in Salisbury Cathedral Close on Saturday 27th September 2025 with concerts lasting one hour at 11.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. Come to them all and use the breaks to take advantage of the many places to eat and drink in and near The Close!

Bridget Yee – First concert starting at 11.30am for approx. 60 minutes.

Malaysian pianist Bridget Yee is a winner of the Windsor and Beecham International Piano Competitions, earning the Best Overall Competitor Prize at the latter. In 2020, she triumphed at the Putra International Piano Competition and was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician Keyboard Category.

Bridget is studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Christopher Elton, a recipient of the Suresh and Richard McMillan Full Scholarship. She is an artist of The Keyboard Trust and Talent Unlimited Foundation and has received awards from the Hattori Foundation, Young Sounds UK, and the Kerr Memorial Prize from the Royal Overseas League.

Her programme will include Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) – Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 31 No. 3, Cécile Chaminade and Franz Liszts Après une lecture de Dante: Fantasia quasi sonata from Années de pèlerinage (Deuxième année: Italie)

 Sadra Mahshidfar – Second concert starting at 2.30pm for approx. 60 minutes

Sadra is a pianist known for his expressive artistry and versatility, has performed at the Academy’s Summer Piano Festival and the Royal Northern College of Music. He is enthusiastic about contemporary music, having collaborated with composers like Philip Cashian and Brett Dean, and premiered new works with the Manson Ensemble. Recent recitals in London and Oxford featured works by Samuel Barber, Tristan Murail, and Franz Schubert.

Currently at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Joanna MacGregor, Sadra holds the Leverhulme Arts Scholarship and the Jennifer Sharp award. He studied at Tehran University of Art before joining the Academy and has worked with pianists Yevgeny Sudbin and Steven Osborne.His programme will include some majestic Handel, some spiritually rich Messian, four mazurkas by Chopin and Liszt’s sparkling Les Jeaux d’eaux à la Ville d’Este.

Andra Bacila- Third concert starting at 6.00pm for 60 approx minutes

Andra is a Romanian classical pianist, is an outstanding performer described by critics in Silent London. She studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Joanna MacGregor CBE, having received a full scholarship and the Hargreaves and Ball Award. Her performances include venues like St James’s Church Piccadilly, the University Church of St Mary in Oxford, and the Romanian Athenaeum, where she played the Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor.

She performed at the Czech Embassy in 2023 for the new Rusalka production with the Czech Philharmonic, andparticipated in a fund-raiser at Central Saint Martins’ LVMH Theatre. She also won concert opportunities through the Odyssey Masterclass, Stonevale Concert Series, and Talent Unlimited, joining the foundation in 2024. At the Royal Academy, Bacila has performed in Summer and Autumn Piano Festivals, participated in projects like Liszt: The Complete Années de Pèlerinage and Kurtág: The Complete Játékok, and contributed to the Improvisation to Film project with Neil Brand.

Her programme will include some witty Rameau, a charming sonata by Clementi, and Liszt’s magical St. François d’Assise: La Prédication aux Oiseaux.
